I love taking shots of tall bulildings.  There is so much room for perspective.  And because they are mostly glass, there are great opporunities for incredible reflections.   The first building is the Time Warner Center with the steal globe in the foreground.  The other buildings is Donald Trump’s 1 Central Park West also known as Trump International Hotel and Tower.

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day in New York City and I was excited about getting to the park and taking some first spring shots of Central Park at it’s peak.  I took a walk down Park Avenue and the Cherry blossoms were bursting.  I then walked through Central Park and the day was bursting with spring colors and interesting people.  The third picture is of Turtle Pond within Central Park.  If you notice, there is a turtle sitting on a rock in the foreground.  There is something very special about this place and they even have an area called the “quite zone” on the lake.  This is a great place to take pictures all year round.

One thing you will find out quickly about me is that I love to photograph Architecture and New York City architecture is the best!.  Their is such a diversity from very modern, back to the 1800′s, all the way to very modern and sleek, some co-existing on the same streets.  The architecture is as diversified as the city’s population.    I found the buildings in the first two photos very ominous and dark.  I was intrigued how much time and effort they used to put in to framing the outsides of windows.  They framing made the windows somehow very old and the windows was the buildings eyes.  Architecture can really seem to be alive sometimes in the way the windows are angled and framed or the magnificent reflections in glass wall modern buildings.  Architecture always remains current with the modern aesthetics and needs of those that occupy them.  But I am happy that the old buildings just like the old people stick around to offer charm, history and mystery.

I used some presets in Lightroom to increase the contrast.   It definitely brings out the darker side in these and the contrast has a great effect.  I hope you enjoy.

I packed my camera bag and tripod early Sunday morning and decided to take a walk through New York City and just shoot.  I just got my new Canon 7D and was very excited to try it out.   I was able to capture the late morning light and these stunning birds.  I played with them for a while.  Someone was in the background feeding them food which made for a lively scene.  I love birds.  They fascinate me.  They are extremally smart, fast and has extremely good vision.  The Laridae Seagull are “resourceful, inquisitive and intelligent birds, demonstrating complex methods of communication and a highly developed social structure..”    All of that and looks as well!!
